Default I Hate Wurms!!!!

Have you ever had your group break up because they couldn't get anywhere with the Wurms in Tombs? I just have.

We were a non-B/P balanced group and we were doing a pretty good job until we got to the wurms. The problem there wasn't that they were killing us. It's that they would pop in and out of the ground again and again and again and again....

For 20 minutes!!!!!!!

We barely managed to actually get an attack off on them. In the end, members of my group just started leaving because we made absolutely no progress with them for the last 20 minutes. There wurms were not a challenge. They were not deadly. They were just plain annoying! And they ruined our adventure in this case.

Please ANet.... Fix their AI!

If all of you stand still and don't move they don't pop in and out the whole time but remain in a fixed position. At least that was the case in all my runs. It can be difficult however when pets are moving.

We didn't have pets. And we tried everything. "Nobody move at all." Didn't work. "Somebody move." Nope. "Don't cast spells on it." Nada.

Anyway, I guess I will use the /bug command (it's not an emote though; shame on you). I never use that thing because it doesn't give you enough room to write anything with any detail.

I had this problem last night. What we did was just keep running away and it stopped following us.

Nope, that has been fixed a month ago...

Update - Thursday March 2
Fixed miscellaneous bugs with the wurm monster AI.

Is this true? Last night I was with a group just exploring through the desert after beating the Forgotton Ones/Forgotten Wisdom quests and we had some trouble with the wurms. Some of the time we the wurms just stayed there and we were able to attack them and kill them ok. Other times they just kept popping in and out of the ground. We got attacked by two of them at one point and I couldn't do anything with my ranger. One would pop out and knock me down. Then I'd try to heal with Troll Unguent and the 2nd then would pop out and knock me down interupting my skill and hurting me more. I sat there trying to figure out why sometimes they stayed above ground and why other times they would just keep popping in and out of the ground. I was wondering if anyone can confirm what General Surena stated about standing still. Thanks.

Meh. The same thing happens to me. I don't even try to kill them anymore. Whenever one pops up I'm forced to run like crazy to get out of its range

Sneaksy cheating wurms

Yeah, whenever I'm playing with henchman then I don't bother trying to fight wurms. The strange thing about running from them is that sometimes they follow forever. I've ran from them before where they broke off the chase relatively soon, but a while back I remember getting attacked by one over by Heroe's Ascent (I think) and ran damn near all the way back to Augury Rock before it finally killed us (along with some blasted Scarabs). So even running from them is a complete joke sometimes.
